Net Neutrality: FCC Opens Up Rules for Comments
The net neutrality rules that are being considered by the FCC have moved forward by one step. The commission has voted to begin formal consideration of, what I, and many are calling, a terrible and innovation-killing set of regulations that would effectively end a fair and open internet (more here from CNet, Scientific American, Huffington Post, and Gizmodo).
During his formal consideration phase the FCC (as well as other agencies like HHS for the healthcare overhaul) opens up its floor for public comment. Here's how to do it:
- Head over to FCC.gov/comments (opens in new window) and look for the title "Protecting and Promoting the Open Internet".
- Look for the the number "14-28" which will allow you to fill out a form and then comment.
- Let your feelings be known
- Click the "Continue" and then "Confirm"
The open forum time period closes on September 10th.
